Recently Geoff Caldwell has passed on the baton of Director of Camping after 28 years of ministry and service to Baptist Camping Victoria (BCV).
Geoff started at BCV in 1996 when it had one site with seven staff members and a modest revenue of $235,000. But under Geoff’s leadership, between 1996 and 2024, BCV Family and Ministry Camps have welcomed over 5,000 campers and trained more than 100 interns. Geoff also led the acquisition of Burnside, Halls Gap, and Mill Valley Ranch, ensuring throughout that the mission and ministry focus of BCV remained at the forefront. Through these years, BCV has also been recognised by industry for excellence.
In 2023 BCV’s revenue was $6.2 million, over 600 camps were held across 4 sites, with over 85 staff members. They hosted 27 ministry camps, and supported five alignment groups and through the years BCV has reinvested over $15 million into their facilities. These numbers speak volumes about Geoff’s dedication and vision.
But the impact of Geoff’s leadership goes beyond numbers. He has not only helped kids to reach untapped potential but has also impacted countless lives, leading to the distribution of thousands of Bibles and to many to decisions for Jesus.
As Geoff and wife, Kendra conclude their ministry, we celebrate and thank them for their service and unwavering commitment to our churches, wider Baptist family and to the countless individuals and organisations who have experienced Baptist camping in Victoria.
