PRIORITISING ENGAGING THE NEXT GEN IN FAITH series
A compelling speaker plus a magnificent choir of more than 60 people gave young people at the Chin Christian Council in Australia Youth Conference an uplifting start to the year. The Chin people originate from the Chin state, an ethnic state of Myanmar (previously known as Burma). The BUV has 25 Chin churches who are part of our diverse and intercultural union.
The packed conference was held at Victorian Chin Baptist Church, Croydon, in January with more than 800 people attending. It aimed to build stronger relationships between local Chin churches and to encourage young people to live for Christ in Australia.
Rev Jonathan Van Hei Lian preached from Daniel about the challenges of living in a foreign land yet remaining faithful to God.
“Young people are very much engaged at the conference and show their talents given by God in many ways, for the glory of God,” Jonathan said. “There are 22 Chin churches under CCCA and the young people attend the conference from all around Australia, from Adelaide, Perth, Queensland, Coffs Harbour, and from Victoria.”
